San Francisco and the Pocket Opera

This past weekend, we drove into "the City," which around here means San Francisco. We are ~35-45 minutes away but we don't really go that often, so it was a treat.

We went to hear my Auntie "Em" ("Em" is for Marcelle) perform in "Don Giovanni," an opera by Mozart. Boy was she terrific in it!! Kudos and brava, Auntie Em!!! I almost jumped out the window when I saw her lol : )

She was singing one of the hardest parts, Donna Anna, and she was pitch perfect. In fact, this was our first time attending the Pocket Opera in San Francisco. We have heard about it for years and years, though had never seen it until now. Boy we wish we had before... it was really good. They have some fantastic singers. They also sing it in English so it makes it easier to understand. http://pocketopera.org/

Well the performance was in one of the most beautiful parts of the city. If you come to visit San Francisco, you must come to the Palace of the Legion of Honor. It's got amazing views of San Francisco, the water, and the bridge.

Great view, huh?

SuperFoodBowl Partee Pics

Hiya Pals,

Oh geez, I've been away again too long. Well, I wanted to post pics from my last post a month ago. I went next door to my Uncle Ted's and Aunt Judy's to watch the SuperFoodBowl. We were cheerin' loudly for the 49er's!! It wuz fun. But it wuz not enuf-- those Baltimore Ravens played bettah than we did, so they became the Superbowl Champs. It's ok though, we are still proud of our 49er's and how they played this season.

The fun thing about SuperFoodBowls are the partees, and this year wuz no exception. Megots to watch the game with my 2 pals, Roxy and Lang, and their peeples. They are friends from the dawg park.

SuperFoodBowl cake-- yummers!

Roxy and I watching the TV-- do you see my nosey?

Here we are all watching TV together with my Aunt Hiroko.
That's my nosey nose again!

My pal Roxy, a lovely red golden retriever. She is Lang's gal.

My buddy Lang, a handsome golden retriever. He is ill, so please send prayers for him and his family...

Here I am!

Me decked out in my garb-- do you like my scarf?
My Uncle B and Auntie Z made it for me for Christmas, isn't that nice of them?

View of my 49er's T-shirt. Go 49er's!!

Well, that's it for now pals. I do hope to be blogging more, there is so much to tell you about!

I hope everyone is having a good week.
                                                             Cheers,

SuperFoodBowl!!!

Hello Everyone,

The BIG DAY is here and boy am I excited!! I even woke up early today which did not a happy person make.

I been wearing around my tee shirt for 2 weeks straight now. It's smelly and dirty, but that's how melikes it!

Can't believe that our team the 49er's are INside the SuperFoodBowl this year! It will be messy in there with all the food inside the big bowl. And they have to scramble against the Baltimore Ravens to retrieve the football from all the food inside. And whoever comes out wins.

I guess one of the big stories is about the 2 bro's: Jim and John Harbaugh the coaches, which is pretty kewl if you ask me. I guess they will be standing on the edge of the bowl looking down into it and telling their teams where the football is and how to get it.

We are going to our neighbor's house today. We are bringing some Wingstop chicken wings. My Uncle Ted is making ribs. My Aunt Judy will be making guacamole and dip. My Aunt Hiroko will be making dessert and salad, from what I understand. And I'll be watching SuperFoodBowl with my doggie pals Lang, a golden retriever, and Roxy, a red golden retriever.

Woohooo!! Can't wait, esp to see all those commercials...!! Sending extra drool to my San Francisco 49er's team today!

Happy Christmas!!

Hello Family & Friends,

I'm wishing everyone a Happy Christmas or Happy Howlidays or whatever ya celebrates!!

Mrs. Houndmomma from Chicago made this Christmas greeting for me-- it is kewl! Thanks!!
Me (left) & my pal Mr. Bo Jangles (right) sitting for a pic earlier this season w/Santa Paws... except his head is cut off here, yikes!

There he is!! He wuz a nice Santa Paws and it wuz nice to see him in California before he made his way to the North Pole.

So, how has everyone's holiday season been going? I wish you an abundance of good times with family and close friends this year. And I am thinking of those who are going thru difficult times, as I realize the holidays are not always happy for everyone.

I like the holidays because although it is very bizzy and hectic leading up to Christmas (hence no blog posts in awhile!), the actual days of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are nice days to lay around chill-axin'.

Here I am chill-axin' in my Christmas pj's on Christmas Day... or as my British pals say, I'm in my "Christmas jumper." I learned that recently!

This year, I made the annual trip to my Grand-Paws and Grand-Maws. It has been a nice trip so far. First a looooong car ride, and then we arrives. And I gets to see my Uncle B and Auntie Z down there too! Meloves them and gets so excited and waggy-tailed to see everyone.

We took a Christmas Eve stroll thru Old Town Pasadena... all the dawgs I met were wearing clothes like me, must be an LA thing. Even a pit bull I met wuz wearing one lol!

I ran into a fuzzy reindeer, chill-axin' on a bench!
...and an extra LARGE person that I barked at!
This wuz a kewl find: Three Dog Bakery, which makes a lot of kewl baked goods for dawgs like me. They gave me a free pupcake!! We like their "everything natural" philosophy!

I've GOT to try these, dontcha thinks? My person said not today Worm, but that we will be back soon to try one.
We LOVES the Ritz!! We will blog about that in a separate post soon. But will say briefly that we went to their Christmas dawg partee. Everyone is so nice there! They luvs us dawgs. They gives us treeeats and pictures with Santa and everything. And best of all, the proceeds benefit the Peninsula Humane Society! Here are some pics from that:

It sure is beautiful at nights, isn't it?

All the clever & creative arrangements of dawg treeeats.... for dawgs like me!! yummers!

I usually loves to drink this... but it wuz too cold so I wasn't thirsty.

In my Christmas outfit.

In front of their Christmas tree.
OK wow that wuz a long post!! I had so much to share.

Well mehopes ya has a wonderful howliday... Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

HAPPY TURKEY OR TOFURKEY DAY!!!

Hope everyone had a good day. Here are some pictures of me at the harvest, lol.

Standing on a haystack at the pumpkin patch...

It is fun being around so many pumpkins!!

Some pumpkins are as big as I am. This one's even taller than me!
Well, we bought 3 pumpkins that day. If you look more closely at the pictures, you will see that the pumpkins are neatly laid in sections. This last picture is the large pumpkin section. They also had a small pumpkin section, white pumpkins, green pumpkins, all different kinds!

We got a green pumpkin for Auntie M, cuz that's her favorite color! We got my Aunt Queenie a sugar pumpkin since she likes to make pumpkin pies. And we got a bright reddish-orange pumpkin for us, cuz it wuz kewl looking. It is still sitting on our porch today, and we got it before Halloweens.

Well a sad but amusing tale about my Aunt Queenie's pumpkin is that we went to drop it off at her house and they live on a big hill. When we went to open the car door, her pumpkin fell out cuz the car was packed (we were coming back from camping and had all our camping gear inside). It rolled all the way down the street, made a right turn, and continued rolling down the street. Poor pumpkin!! It really rolled a long way. So long that we didn't even feeling like walking that distance, we drove instead, lol! It was laid to rest on the side of the curb, but it had split into 3 pieces-- poor, poor pumpkin!!! We picked it up and gave it a nicer place to rest in peace, instead of on the side of the road all undignified like that.

Anyways... the moral of the story is.... watch out for rolling pumpkins!!

                                                                    Cheers,

Field Trialing

Oh boy, everyone!! I had quite an adventure this weekend. I went to my first Field Trial. Guess what? I took home a 2nd place and earned my first field trial points. It was kewl and unexpected.

Got this red ribbon, but more importantly, I got this yellow star toy that I can play with!
We had to wake up at 4:30am to get to the Sacramento & N. California Field Trials in Vacaville, CA by 7:30am. We were driving in the pitch black of night. But then it was kewl to see the sunrise.

We has to thank Ms. Sara for telling us about this, and for giving us the info, and for answering our bazillion questions about field trials. She and Jan have Bluefence bassets and they has a real nice crew. Here are some pics of their dawgs:

GFC Bluefence Devoted Sistear aka Cissie, with her son Bluefence Olympic Flame aka Fenris.

Bluefence Take the Like aka Buster Poseyear- can you tell they are Giants fans? Go Giants!! Buster is a nice boy and we were out in the field together a lot.

Cissie in the background with FC Bluefence RC Flying Solo, aka D'Brickashaw Fearguson. D'Brickashaw da football playah!
Thanks Ms. Sara!

Now what on earth is a Field Trial, ya might say? It's ok cuz we said the same thing!

Well, here is the Field:

It was a lovely weekend, but got quite hot in the afternoons.
Bright red tree in the middle of the field!

And here is the Trial: basically, the peeples and the dawgs walk thru the large field, and the bunnies get up and hop away. The peeples and 2 judges observe the trail the bunny took. The 2 hounds compete against each other to follow the bunny trail. Whoever does it the best wins.

There were 13 houndies competing in my Boys' class, both on Friday & Saturday. That means there were 7 braces (groups of 2 hounds that go) to begin with, which means.... lotsa waiting and downtime. Here are some pics from the downtime during the competition:

Out in front is Ms. Sara's Bluefence dawg: Mr. Buster. He's a nice-looking hound, my person says.

Practicing using my nose to find good sniffs

Some of the new guys I met

I kinda like this Field Trial thing!

But sometimes it makes me hot and yawny!

Here I am examining it...

There wuz a raffle and I won a huge Natural Balance sausage...

And now here's my buddy examining it... hey wait a minute, that's MY sausage!

I met some nice folks here including Mr. & Mrs. Palmer, who put the trials on. They wuz nice cuz they put on a practice session for us newbies and it musta helped me, cuz I did good the next day. They has a lot of nice dawgs too. Here are a few of them:

Here is Ms. Abby

DCGFC Sanlyn CJ's Misadventure, Missy, the red/white, and Abby, the tri-color.
I believe Missy won the entire Sacramento Field Trial this past weekend (Absolute winner). Kewl!

Missy, Abby, and Delta on the right

I also wanna thank my Auntie M. and new pal Mr. Bo Jangles for coming out all the way to Vacaville to support us! I think Mr. Bo should come Field Trialing with me next year in the S. Calif Chino competition. It would be a fun thing to do together!

Mr. Bo Jangles

My Auntie M and Mr. Bo

Waiting, waiting in the fields...
This Field Trialing thing is a lot of wurk!! Made me SO tired!
Well, it is fun to have new experiences in life. We met lotsa new houndies and their peeples, all of whom were really kewl and devoted to their houndies. I may try this again sometime next year and will keep y'all posted.

Hope everyone is getting a good start to the week,
